GOD'S GREAT PROVISION OF STRENGTH
Isaiah 40:28-31, "Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Isaiah 40:31 is a well known verse in the Word of God. It may be in the top ten verses in the Old Testament. However, the verses which precede verse 31 are of great significance. Power isn't something we generate, it something we are given. To have power you must receive it. And if you are going to have divine strength then you will only receive it from One who is all powerful.
It is important to understand Who God is, if I am going to receive that which He has made available for me. Verse 28 is emphatic, "Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard..." Can you hear this passage screaming at you? "...THE EVERLASTING GOD, THE LORD, THE CREATOR OF THE ENDS OF THE EARTH, FAINTETH NOT, NEITHER IS WEARY? THERE IS NO SEARCHING OF HIS UNDERSTANDING. HE GIVETH POWER TO THE FAINT; AND TO THEM THAT HAVE NO MIGHT HE INCREASETH STRENGTH." God isn't weary, He isn't about to faint, He isn't going to someone for counselling! He is Omnipotent, He is Omniscient, and He is Omnipresent. God has power to burn, God has strength to spare, God has wisdom to share, and He wants to give these things to you and me.
Are you willing to wait upon God to give you power? He has it to give, so why not wait on Him to grant it. Do you need to renew your strength? God has plenty. He isn't about to run dry!!!
"...they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint? The Hebrew word translated wait means "to look to with expectation." Therefore we are being told to "look to God with an expectation" I expect God to strengthen me because He can strengthen me and He promises if I will wait upon Him then He will renew my strength.
I hope you find the strength you need in the LORD. He wants to share it with you!!! He has more than enough.
Isaiah 41:10, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."
This verse is plain in its meaning and what it says. Let's learn to trust in God for our strength.
Thank God for His promises!
Have a great day rejoicing in the Saviour.
