GOING TO THE ROCK!

Psalm 61:2"From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I."

The Christian doesn't live his life on sinking sand, he lives his life upon not just any rock, but THE ROCK OF JESUS CHRIST. The Psalmist speaks of a time which was difficult and trying, so much so that he was overwhelmed. The Hebrew word translated overwhelmed speaks of "being turned aside and growing faint or weak." If we aren't careful we will allow our circumstances to become our focus and the feeling of being overwhelmed will grow. We are turned aside and grow weak because we didn't go to the ROCK which is higher than us.

Please allow these verses to speak to you:

Matthew 21:42,  "Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures,

The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become

the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is

                           marvellous in our eyes?"

1 Corinthians 10:1-4“Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be

ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud,

and all passed through the sea;  And were all baptized

unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat

the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same

spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock

that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

Ephesians 2:19-22,  “Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but

                                 fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,

Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21In whom

all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple

in the Lord: 22In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation

                               of God through the Spirit."

Do as the Psalmist, rather than getting overwhelmed, go to the ROCK THAT IS HIGHER!

When your senses are tuned to God's Word, you can perceive more than you can merely by looking at what is in front of you. Take time to enjoy and "live in the moment" today, but don't live your life focused solely on the immediate. Tune your heart to hear and obey God's truth.
