Proverbs 12:23

Good Morning,

I hope you had a good weekend and enjoyed the time you spent worshipping the Lord with fellow believers at church.  We had a good beginning to our revival services, please continue to pray for these meetings.

This morning I would like to focus on Proverbs 12:23, "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding."  Here we have a list of valuable items to hang on to, to store up in an abundant supply.   Truth, wisdom, instruction, and understanding are virtues beyond value, none of which are for sale.   Therefore, the writer of this proverb urges his son to spend whatever is necessary to obtain truth and wisdom. Though we may buy a material possession and later sell it, the admonition here warns of never getting rid of truth, wisdom, instruction, and understanding. The greater thought is of obtaining the related virtues of truth and never letting them slip away.

Do you value the things listed in verse twenty-three?  Often, I'm afraid we have a higher regard for items not very important.  Learn the principle taught herein, and become the person God intends you to become.

Have a great day!

Your Friend and HIS,

Pastor Abbott
