A Fitting End

Numbers 36:13, "These are the commandments and the judgments, which the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses unto the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho."

This is the last verse in the book of Numbers. I chose this because of the emphasis it places upon the commandments and judgments of our LORD. Psalm 19 speaks about the commandments and judgments of the LORD. Commandments are orders given to us by God. They are to be obeyed and carried out. Judgments are verdicts or decisions that God makes to make something clear when it otherwise might be unclear. Listen to the words of Psalm 19:7-11, "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward."

God’s Word is described by the following words in these few short verses: law, testimony, statutes, commandment, and judgments. There are many other descriptive words used throughout the Bible to help us relate to the importance of the Word of God. These words ar to be desired more than gold, they are to be viewed as sweeter than honey and the honeycomb. They are a source of warning, and a source of reward for those who obey these words.

What is your attitude in regards to the Word? Are you seeking God daily by reading the Bible? Are you joining in our journey of reading through these blessed Scriptures? Are you obeying the Word of God? Warning and blessing will be found as you make this journey through the Bible a part of your daily routine.  I hope you find success in reading, studying, meditating, and obeying the Word of God!
