Under His Wings

Ruth 2:12, "The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust."

These are words spoken by Boaz, the next of kin to Elimelech. He is addressing Ruth, the daughter-in-law of Naomi. These words of kindness, blessing, and encouragement demonstrated the heart Boaz had for Naomi and Ruth. He encouraged Ruth in her faith. His prayer was that God would repay Ruth's work with a full reward. He also, commended her trust in the LORD, "...under whose wings thou are come to trust."

Abiding under God's wings is a special place and privilege for the believer. Psalm 91:1-4, "He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. [2] I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. [3] Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. [4] He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler." Jesus spoke these heartfelt words in Matthew 23:37, "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!"

God wants us to draw close to Him through faith in Him. Where do you find yourself today? Are you resting and trusting abiding under the wings of the Almighty, or are you living in your own strength, trusting in your own ability?

I hope your faith has found a resting place, in the Almighty God! Stay close to Him and rest under His wings.

Your Friend and HIS,

Pastor Abbott
