A Man On a Mission
Joshua 11:18, "Joshua made war a long time with all those kings."
Joshua had one primary mission given to him from the Lord and that was to do battle with the kings that occupied the promised land Israel would take for its own possession. The mission at this point in his life was not yet accomplished. Chapter 12 ends by telling us the accomplishments thus far "...all the kings thirty and one." Joshua had led many a battle with the Lord fighting for them all along the way.
Tomorrow's reading begins with these words, "Now Joshua was old and stricken in years; and the LORD said unto him, 'Thou art old and stricken in years, and there remaineth yet very much land to be possessed." Joshua was old, but not done! God still had much to be accomplished and Joshua would be the leader God used to accomplish this mission. Don't look at your life and believe your usefulness is gone. Some of us are older than others, but the Lord still has a mission for us all. Know what God wants you to focus on in your Christian life and don't be deterred from the mission God has given you.
One day in glory we will be able to say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, but not until then.
