God's Wonderful Word

Psalm 19:7-11, "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward."

The Word of God as we well know is inspired, it is quick (alive), and it is powerful. In today's passage we see many different words used to describe the Scriptures: the words perfect, sure, right, and pure. The impact of the Word is overwhelmingly positive: converting the soul, making wise the simple, rejoicing the heart, and enlightening the eyes. Fearing the Lord brings a resolve to cleanness, God's judgments are completely true and righteous. I get excited simply being reminded of these things. Is your heart desiring the Word as it should? It is to be desired more than much fine gold. It is sweeter than honey and the honeycomb. God utilizes His Word to warn us, to establish boundaries, to teach us, to share His promises, and to bring spiritual prosperity and blessing into our lives.

I want to encourage you to be a consistent student of the Word. Make reading and studying of the Word an important and prioritized portion of your day. You will grow to heights unknown, and will find God's approval through your obedience and service.

Psalm 119:11, "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."
