God's Compassionate Eyes & Ears

Psalm 34:15, "The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry."

I have often been drawn to wonder of the God who created the universe is concerned about me as one of His children. Whenever the Scriptures speak of the "eyes of the LORD" I am drawn to take notice and learn. Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD (Genesis 6:8). David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD (1 Kings 15:5), so did Asa (1 Kings 15:11). Then we read, "... the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him." (2 Chronicles 16:9(a)). The eyes of the LORD are not only eyes of providence, to protect us and to supply us with what we need, but they are eyes of love and compassion. In Genesis 16:13, the Bible states concerning Hagar: "...she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?" God saw Hagar during a time of distress and He took time to minister to her.

We do not live without God's eyes looking down upon us in love and compassion. He sees and knows all, and when we cry out to Him, He hears our cry. Be encouraged by these verses: Psalm 34:6, "This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles." Psalm 65:2, "O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come." Psalm 55:22, "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

Don't give up hope in the midst of your trial. Rest assured the LORD sees you and is attentive to the cry of your heart.

Have a great day walking in the assurance that God sees and knows you!

Pastor Abbott
