Psalm 89:33-35, "Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David."

God's promise to David is consistent with His character. In this case the attribute we are speaking of is God's faithfulness. If I have any hope of learning to trust God, to learn of Him, to lean upon Him, and to be led by Him, it will be because I AM TOTALLY CONVINCED THAT GOD IS FAITHFUL. God promises that He will not permit His faithfulness to fail. This Hebrew word is found six times in the Old Testament and expresses the ability to lie or deal falsely. God's character will not allow Him to lie or deal falsely with anyone, He cannot fail.

The Bible clearly teaches the faithfulness of God in today's passage, see also: Deuteronomy 7:9, Lamentations 3:22-23, 1 Corinthians 1:9, and 2 Timothy 2:13 all speak of God's faithfulness.

The Bible clearly teaches His Word is faithful see: Joshua 21:44-45, 1 Kings 8:56, Psalm 119:138, Titus 1:9.

The Lord Jesus Christ is also faithful see: 2 Thessalonians 3:3, Hebrews 2:17, 3:2, and 10:23. Because God is faithful I can trust Him, depend upon Him, rely upon Him, and rest in Him. How is God's faithfulness demonstrated in Scripture?

• God is faithful to limit the intensity of our temptation and make a way of escape. 1 Corinthians 10:13

• God is faithful to forgive our sins when we confess them to Him. 1 John 1:9

• God is faithful to guard us in suffering. 1 Peter 4:19

• God is faithful to reward our work and love for Him. Hebrews 6:10

• God is faithful to keep us until we are taken to heaven. Philippians 1:6, Titus 1:2

I hope you are encouraged today knowing that God is faithful, His Word is faithful, the Lord Jesus is faithful. If you are going through a difficult trial today you can trust God to be faithful. If you have sinned and need God's forgiveness and cleansing in your life you can confess your sins and trust God to be faithful.

2 Timothy 2:13, "If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself."
