Consider the Great, Honorable, Glorious and Righteous Works of God
Psalm 111:2-3, "The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein. 3His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever."
The psalmist declares "the works of the LORD are great." The word "great" speaks of the magnitude and extent of God's works. Barnes states, "they are great in number, great in magnitude; great in wisdom, great in goodness." As time moves on we learn more and more of the vastness of what God has done simply in the area of creation. How large and how many are the galaxies? How many stars has God created? How great are the details concerning man's creation? The heart itself pumps blood at the rate of approximately 280 liters in one hour, 7200 liters in 24 hours, or 2,688,000 liters per year! The heart pumps 24 hours a day never taking a rest, and will beat 2.5 billion times during a person's life span. We have approximately 100,000 miles of blood vessels in the adult human body. This is remarkable, THIS IS GREAT!!! They are sought out (investigated or carefully examined) by all those who have pleasure in them.
All of God's works are described as honorable and glorious (vs. 3). This describes the nature of all that God does in relation to creation, providence, redemption, etc. There is a constant tenor of righteousness in all that God does. He fulfills every word of promise, He makes His words good by His righteousness to every generation.
We may conclude that if God's works are great then He must be great. "Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.” (Psalm 145:3) We can forever examine the great works of God, we can praise Him for His great works, but we will never exhaust the great things He has done. God's greatness is unsearchable.
