God Magnifies Himself and We Should Also Magnify the Lord

Ezekiel 38:23, "Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD."

This verse concludes a section which speaks of God taking actions that will show the greatness of His power and the strictness of His justice and holiness.  God glorifies these attributes and all of His other perfect attributes as He destroys the enemies of His people Israel.  This, in turn, will make God known in the eyes of many nations, and they THEN WILL KNOW that God is Lord.  Heathen nations will come to the knowledge of the true God, and His Son Jesus Christ, and of Christianity, and shall embrace and profess it. The Muslims will see the true God, the Mormons will see the true God, the Hindus will see the true God, etc. etc.

The word "magnify" means to promote and make important.  God should be promoted by every believer and certainly, He should be important to us. During the end of the ages, God will magnify Himself, what a shame that we as Christians have failed to magnify the Lord. He should be preeminent in our lives and promoted at every opportunity.  Are you magnifying the Lord in your life?

Psalm 34:3, "O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together."

Your Friend and HIS,

Pastor Abbott

MEDITATIONS

1. What are some of the things in the world that drown out the preeminent place God should have in our lives?

2. What do you struggle with most regarding keeping the Lord preeminent?

3. How might you magnify the Lord today? Be specific and intentional in this.
