Read Proverbs 19:16-29

Proverbs 19:21, "There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand."

As clearly stated in the first part of our verse people have all kinds of schemes and or plans in their heart. The word "devices" speaks of thoughts and or plans. Any thought or plan that is contrary to God's Word will bring negative consequences to our lives. There is a great lesson to be learned in this verse concerning the preeminent place God's Word should have in our lives.  "...the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.” God’s way lasts. It works!  God’s way works and is long-lasting. 

Have you made the Word of God preeminent in your life? 2 Timothy 2:15 commands, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."  God's Word should be studied and obeyed. It stands forever.  When your heart or mind strays from God's Word, realize the error of your way and claim the superior place God's Word has in your life.  God's way is better.  It stands the test of time.  We will never go wrong by doing things God's way.
