The Accuracy of Prophecy

Daniel 12:11, "And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days."

The books of Ezekiel, Daniel, and Revelation are keys to understanding eschatology (the doctrine of future things). Nowhere will one find accurate predictions about the future except in the Word of God. As the book of Daniel comes to a close we learn the number of days (1,290) which take place during the last half of the tribulation period. We spoke about the anti-christ yesterday desecrating the altar and setting himself up as a god to be worshipped. This is described above as "...from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate setup..." This time period is slightly more than 3.5 years.

In Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible it is stated, "there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days; from the beginning of the reign of antichrist to the end of it are one thousand two hundred and sixty days or years, or forty-two months, which is the same, according to Revelation 13:5, here thirty days or years are added, which begin where the other end, and is the time allotted for the conversion of the Jews, and other things, making way for the kingdom of Christ; and which the reign of antichrist was a hindrance of, but should now immediately take place." The antichrist is coming, Jesus is coming again, and we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us!

I thank God for His precious Word and teachings concerning future things.  Our future is bright as our redemption is drawing nigh!!!

MEDITATIONS

1. Why do some people look to sources outside the Word of God to learn about the future?

2. How bright is the future for those who have placed faith in Jesus Christ for redemption? Describe.

3. How dark is the future for those who refuse to place faith in Jesus Christ? Describe.
