Matthew 6:31, "Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."  

The Lord Jesus in His sermon on the mount speaks to we humans and says not to worry (give a thought) about the necessities of life; food, water, and clothes. Six times in 10 verses (Mat. 6:25-34) Jesus speaks the word translated "thought" which refers to being filled with care or being anxious.   Don't make these things a matter of anxiety because He knows we need them, and He promises to provide them. 

BUT SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD: we are to seek spiritual things first. The kingdom of God is that spiritual kingdom whereby God rules in the hearts of His children. When we seek God first, He promises to supply all of our needs. Paul said in Philippians 4:19, "But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." So many times as people we reverse the order that God prescribes for our lives by seeking material things first, but this is in disobedience to the clear command of Jesus to seek His kingdom first.  

Let's make sure to always put first things first. Keep God First In Everything!
