What Can Wash Away Your Sin?

READ Hebrews 10

Hebrews 10:4,10 and 14, 4"For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

10”...we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified."

If you recall, when we began reading through the book of Hebrews, I mentioned one of the key words in the book is the word "better." We have recently been reading about the superior covenant of the New (Christ) Testament over that of the Old (Mosaic) Testament. It is clearly stated for us in Hebrews 10:4 that it is impossible for the blood of bulls and of goats to take away sin. So, God, brought His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ into the world (vs. 5) to give Himself a sacrifice for mankind. You and I are set apart from sin through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all (vs. 10).

God's redemptive purpose was accomplished ONCE AND FOR ALL through the death of Jesus Christ on Calvary. "For by one offering he (Jesus) hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified." Hebrews 10:14

The song writer, Robert Lowry, wrote in 1876: What Can Wash Away My Sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What Can Make Me Whole Again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh! precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow. No other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus."

When men want to ridicule those who believe there is only one way to Heaven, I will believe the Bible, "For by one offering he (Christ) hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified."

Have a great day walking in the joy and the blessing of knowing your sin is forgiven!

Pastor Abbott

MEDITATIONS

 1.  If it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sin, why do some people still seek redemption through animal sacrifices?

2.  Jesus’ sacrifice accomplished God’s eternal purpose for our redemption. How so?

3.  How many times did Jesus have to offer Himself to bring eternal redemption?  Explain your answer.

4.  What can wash away your sin?
