Are You Responding to Jesus’ Knocking?

READ Revelation 3

Revelation 3:20, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

I am constantly amazed by the fact that God desires an audience with us.  Here we have a picture of Jesus' knocking at the door of our heart, desiring to gain entrance, in order to produce a life of acceptance in Him and fellowship with Him.

The greatest day of my life was the day Jesus knocked on the door of my heart, and I heard His voice through the blessed Word of God and the Holy Spirit concerning my need for salvation.  God makes it plain to us that we are sinners in need of a Saviour.  He also makes it plain that He desires to fellowship with us daily.  Jesus promises that if we respond to Him by coming to Him, He will receive us.  "...him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." (John 6:37) Also, "...as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name" (John 1:12).  Have you responded to Jesus as He knocks at the door of your heart and calls you with His voice?  I hope you can give an affirmative "YES!"

The idea of fellowshipping with Jesus is a pleasant and blessed thought.  To think that you can spend time with the Saviour supping with Him is a blessing.  The word "sup" has a couple of thoughts.  One is to take in food or drink a little at a time, kind of like sipping some hot tea or coffee.  The other thought is a contracted form of supper.  The word "supped" is used in 1 Corinthians 11:25, "After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.”  You eat and drink with people who are near and dear to you, and it is a time of sweet fellowship.  Are you fellowshipping with Jesus daily?  Do you spend time with Him?  We have a standing invitation with the Saviour to "sup" with Him.

May we more clearly understand God's desire to fellowship with us, and may we exercise the discipline to do just that.  Have you opened the door of your heart to Christ?  Are you spending time with Him daily through Bible study and prayer?  If not, change your habits and open the door to Jesus!!!
