LIVING THE CRUCIFIED LIFE

Read Colossians 3:1-4

The focus of the book of Colossians at this point turns to the practical.  Paul often would first present doctrinal truth and then teach us how to live our lives in a practical fashion for Jesus Christ.

The Apostle Paul speaks often about the reality and the necessity for us to live the crucified life.

When Paul says in Colossians 3:3, “ye are dead” he obviously isn't talking about you being physically dead, but he is referring to the Old Man (the person you were before you were saved) being dead.  Additional helpful verses are (Galatians 2:20, 5:24, 6:14, and Romans 6:5-12).

We must understand this truth and live under its authority if we are going to live in obedience to Colossians 3:2. "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” It is amazing the things that vie for our attention and focus. There is a game I love to play, and if I'm not careful it will rob me of time that I could spend doing things that are heavenly in nature.  May we be careful to set our affection on things above, in the heavenly’s.

I pray I will live in such a way as to crucify the Old Man and allow the New Man to be spiritually focused rather than worldly focused.

Have a great day serving and praising the Saviour!

Your Friend and HIS,

Pastor Abbott

MEDITATIONS

1.  Do the things of Christ and Heaven consume your life and mind?

2.  A worldly affection focuses upon the things of this earth.  What kinds of things would be included in a worldly affection?

3.  What areas of your life need to be changed in order to show that your true affection is set upon Christ?

4.  What was your life like before you became a believer?  Has there been an evident change for the better?  Are you more like Jesus today?
