How Is Your Spiritual Growth?

READ Hebrews 5

“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” – Hebrews 5:12

Some people are slow in growing.  The writer speaks of this when he states, “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again…”  Repetition is a great teacher, but at some point you should hear the Word, learn it, and obey it.  The writer says that these Jewish believers needed to be taught “…again which be the first principle of the oracles of God…”  Oracles were divine truths or utterances.  These were first step principles.  Yet they had not yet learned and obeyed as they should because they were “dull of hearing” (vs. 11).  They were sluggish in hearing.

When we fail to grow, we are like a baby, that needs a diet of milk.  Are you still in need of milk?  How long have you been saved?  What are you doing to grow in the Christian faith?  It may be that you are long overdue to partake of strong meat.

If you haven’t been growing, determine now to start.  Get into the Word and study it to the fullest.  Then get in a Sunday School class or discipleship class at church, both will aid you in growing.
