In 1952, Evangelist B.M. Page was led by the Lord to set up a tent in the parking lot of Brownsburg High School. He preached there for 3 weeks. The seed was planted and Brownsburg Baptist Church was born. Brownsburg Baptist is a people that love the Lord. Having accepted God's son, Jesus Christ, as Savior, we endeavor to live a Christian life that glorifies the Lord. The members of Brownsburg Baptist Church come from different backgrounds and have united together for a common cause: to propagate the gospel of Jesus Christ in this community and around the world. We extend a warm invitation to everyone to come and worship with us. We want to be a good neighbor; so if we can ever be of any help, please let us know.
Our Vision
Brownsburg Baptist Church desires to have a like-minded body of believers (Philippians 2:2) seeking to glorify Jesus Christ in all we do. We desire consistent growth through evangelism, discipleship, inspirational worship, powerful preaching, fellowship opportunities provided through a family life center, and an educational ministry.
Our Mission
As a body of baptized believers, Brownsburg Baptist Church exists for the purpose of equipping and edifying the saints for the work of the ministry. Our primary objective is to develop both a burden, and understanding in every believer, that results in the fulfillment of the Great Commission, as stated in Matthew 28:19-20.
Our Prayer
Our prayer for our community is that individuals may come to know the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior; and that they may begin to enjoy the abundant Christian life, which is so full of the blessings of God.
Our Pledge
We will endeavor to extend a hand of strength and will always express a heart of sympathy to all who need our support. We will faithfully pray for all those whom God brings into our Church.
The Scriptures
We believe the Scriptures of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament to be the verbally inspired Word of God. They are inerrant in the original writings and are the sole authority in matters of faith and life. We believe the King James Version of the Bible is the preserved Word of God for English speaking people. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalms 12:6-7)
The Godhead
We believe in one triune God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
The Person and Work of Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men. (John 1:1-2; Luke 1:35; John 1:14)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished man’s redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice, and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. (Romans 3:25; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5; Romans 5:1-2)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. (Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews 9:24; Hebrews 7:25; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2)
We believe in that “blessed hope”, the personal imminent premillennial and pretribulational coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His redeemed ones; and in His subsequent return to earth, with His saints, to establish His millennial kingdom. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Zechariah 14:4-11; Revelation 19:11-16, 20:1-6; 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 5:9; Revelation 3:10).
The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, equal with the Father and Son, and of the same substance and nature: that He convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and that He is the supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:8-11; 1 Corinthians 13:12-14; Romans 8:9; Ephesians 1:13-14)
We believe the Holy Spirit is the Divine Teacher who guides believers into all truth and that it is the privilege and duty of all believers to be filled and led by the Holy Spirit. (John 16:13; 1 John 2:20-27; Ephesians 5:18; John 14:16-17, 15:26)
We believe that the sign gifts (Apostleship, prophecy, healing, and tongues) were temporary and no longer needed after “that which is perfect is come”. We believe this phrase in 1 Corinthians 13:8-11 refers to the completion of the New Testament canon.
Satan
We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin, and gave occasion for the fall of man; that he is the unholy god of this age; that he is the open and declared enemy of God and man; and that he is destined to the judgment of an eternal justice in the Lake of Fire. (Job 1:5-7; Isaiah 14:12-17; Matthew 4:2-11, 25:41; 1 Corinthians 4:4; Revelation 20:10)
Man
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that in Adam’s sin, the race of man fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God; and, that man is totally depraved, and himself utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:22-23, 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3, 12)
Salvation
We believe that salvation is possible only through the substitutionary and vicarious death of Christ for man. (Galatians 1:4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24, 3:18) We believe that faith in the finished work of Christ is the only condition for salvation from sin, and this salvation is wholly of grace; that no works, however good, make that salvation more secure. (Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7; Romans 10:9-13) We believe that every person, immediately upon acceptance of Christ, as his personal Saviour, receives the gift of eternal life, and is made at once a child of God. As such, a special divine providence watches over his welfare so that he is kept in a state of glory. (John 10:28-29; Ephesians 1:13-14; John 1:12; 1 John 5:10-13; 1 Peter 1:5; Philippians 1:6; Romans 8:28-29) We believe that, while salvation is not by works, it is unto good works, and that these good works are the result of a believer living his life under the control and power of the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 2:10; Galatians 5:22-25; Ephesians 5:18)
We believe it is a privilege to rejoice in the assurance of salvation through the testimony of God’s Word; which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh. (Romans 13:13-14; Galatians 5:13; Titus 2:11-15) We believe that every person possesses two natures, with provision made for victory of the new nature over the old nature through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit; and, that all claims to the eradication of the old nature in this life are unscriptural. (Romans 6:13, 8:12-13; Galatians 5:16-25; Ephesians 4:22-24; Colossians 3:10; 1 Peter 1:14-16; John 3:5-9)
Separation
We believe that all those who are saved should live in such a manner as not to be a reproach upon their Lord and Saviour; and, that separation from all religious apostasy, worldly, and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations is commanded of God. ( 2 Timothy 3:1-5; Romans 12:1-2, 14:13; 1 John 2:15-17; 2 John 1:9-11; 2 Corinthians 6:14, 7:1; Colossians 1:18; Acts 4:12)
Evangelism and Missions
We believe that it is the duty of the saved to witness by life and word to the truths of the Bible, to assist in giving the Gospel of Christ to all the world, by praying, giving, and going in obedience to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. (Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 15:19-20; Matthew 28:18-20)
The Church
We believe the church is a congregation of believers, baptized by immersion upon a credible confession of faith, and associated by covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of the church governed by His laws, and that exercising the gifts, rights and privileges invested in it by His Word, that it has the absolute right of self-government directed by the Holy Spirit, and is answerable only to Christ; and that in matters of membership, policy, government, discipline, association, and benevolence, the will of the local church is final. (Matthew 18:15-17; 1 Corinthians 1:2, 6:4-5, 7:17, 11:16; 1 Timothy 3:1-15)
We believe the church has two ordinances committed to it to observe. They are baptism and the communion of the Lord’s Table. We believe that Scriptural baptism is the immersion of the believer in water, that it is a testimony of the believer's union by faith with Christ, in His death, burial, and resurrection. (Acts 2:41-42, 8:36-39; Matthew 28:19-20) We believe that the communion of the Lord’s Table is the partaking of the bread and the cup by believers in remembrance of the death of Christ on our behalf, that it is to be observed until He returns, that it is to be preceded by baptism and on each occasion of observance by thoughtful self-examination. (1 Corinthians 11:23-32; Matthew 26:26-29)
The Eternal State
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal bliss, and the unsaved to judgment and eternal punishment. (Matthew 25:46; John 5:28-29, 11:25-26; Revelation 20:5-6, 12:13) We believe the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection, when spirit, soul and body are re-united to be glorified forever with the Lord. (Luke 23:43; Revelation 20:4-6; 2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23, 3:21; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17) We believe that the souls of unbelievers remain, after death, in conscious misery in hell until the second resurrection, when the soul, spirit, and body are re-united where they shall appear at the Great White Throne Judgment, and shall be cast into the Lake of Fire not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment. (Luke 16:19-29; Matthew 25:41-46; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; Jude 1:6-7; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 20:11-15)
The Baptist Distinctives
We believe in the Baptist distinctives: the sole authority of the Bible, the autonomy of the local church, regeneration as a condition for local church membership, two ordinances - baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper, and that baptism is necessary for local church membership; the priesthood of the believer; two biblical offices, that of pastor and deacon; and the separation of church and state.
