A Life or Death Choice

Good Morning,

Jeremiah 21:8, "...Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death."

There aren't many choices in life that we look at and say, "This is a matter of life and death." However, the Lord spoke of such a choice for the inhabitants of Jerusalem. It involved the impending invasion of Jerusalem by the Babylonian armies of King Nebuchadrezzar. If you wanted to die; stay in the city, if you wanted to live; simply go out of the city and surrender. "He that abideth in this city shall die by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence: but he that goeth out, and falleth to the Chaldeans that besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be unto him for a prey." (Jeremiah 21:9)

I want to make a spiritual application today as it relates to salvation. Confessing the fact that your are a sinner, and trusting the death, burial and resurrection of Christ for forgiveness is a matter of life or death. As a matter of fact it is the most important decision you will ever make because it is a matter of eternal life and eternal death. 1 John 5:11-12, "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."

You see it is clear; having Jesus or not having Jesus is a matter of life or death. You may say, "Well preacher what's the big deal?" Well, first of all we must make sure we have the Son ourselves. There is no other way to have eternal life. Then, there are people all around us who we know and love that have never trusted Christ as their own Saviour. Therefore, eternal death is their plight. You see we are confronted everyday with life and death choices. At least as it relates to helping others around us to make the right choice. Be a witness for Jesus today.

Have a great day rejoicing in your salvation.

Your Friend in HIM,
