What Is Your Position on God's Chosen Nation?

Genesis 12:3, "And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."

What Is Your Position on God's Chosen Nation?

Two major truths are taught in this passage:

That people and nations are blessed who live favorably toward Abram and the nation of Israel.  The U.S. has been a friend of Israel since its formation in May 1948.  I think our position is currently neutral as a country and based upon this truth I'm concerned about this position.  God clearly expresses that blessing comes to those who bless Israel, and cursing comes to those who curse Israel.  No nation, including ours, can be exempt from God's promise.

That through the loins of Abram all families of the earth shall be blessed.  It is through the loins of Abram that Messiah was born.  This obviously is an extended blessing to anyone who has placed their faith and trust in Jesus.  Matthew traces the genealogy of Jesus from Abraham to Joseph, while Luke traces the genealogy of Jesus from Mary to Adam, which includes Abram.  The angel proclaimed  "...Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.   For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:10-11)

We are all blessed by placing our faith and trust in Jesus.  May we live daily to bring honor and glory to His Name.

QUESTIONS TO PONDER

1.  You and I have been greatly blessed because of God's covenants with Abraham.  Do you see a hostility in our world today towards God chosen people?

2.  Will you make a commitment to thank God daily for our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who came through the ancestry of Abraham?

3.  How might you help change someone's opinion if it is negative towards the nation of Israel?  What would you say to them?
