God's Perfect Peace

Isaiah 26:3, "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:  because he trusteth in thee."

One of the great blessings when you know Jesus as your Saviour is the peace that God gives you.  God's peace is different from man's peace.  Jesus speaking to His disciples in John 14:27 said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Peace speaks of tranquility and quietness.  Jesus calmed the stormy seas by saying, "Peace, be still."  In John 14:27, He promised to leave His peace to His disciples.  Matthew Henry states, " When Christ was about to leave the world he made his will. His soul he committed to his Father; his body he bequeathed to Joseph, to be decently interred; his clothes fell to the soldiers; his mother he left to the care of John: but what should he leave to his poor disciples, that had left all for him? Silver and gold he had none; but he left them that which was infinitely better, his peace."

In our text, we are promised that God will keep us in perfect peace when our mind is focused upon the Lord as we are trusting in Him.  The Hebrew word "shalom" is translated with the words perfect peace.  Perfect = complete and peace speaks of safety, quietness, and tranquility.  Do you have God's perfect peace today?  It is promised to all whose mind is stayed (supported by Jehovah).

Verse 4, "Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength."
