Isaiah's Willingness to Serve God

Isaiah 6:8, "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?  Then said I, Here am I; send me."

Isaiah six is a chapter titled "Isaiah's transforming vision" in the Scofield Bible.  Isaiah sets his experience in a historical setting by stating his vision took place in the same year that King Uzziah died.  Isaiah is impacted by the vision of God's majesty and holiness.  This affects him in such a profound and necessary manner.  He confesses his own depravity and sin, "Woe is me! for I am undone: because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."  (Isa.6:5)

With confession comes God's cleansing.  A Seraphim took a live coal from off the altar and placed it upon Isaiah's mouth, and stated, "Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged." (Isa. 6:7)  With cleansing, Isaiah was able to hear God's call, "...Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?  Then said I, Here am I; send me."

Have you been impacted by the majesty and holiness of the LORD?  Do you realize your own depravity and sinfulness?  Have you sought cleansing through the atoning death of Jesus, who shed His blood for the forgiveness of our sins?  I hope your answer is "yes" to these questions, and if your answer is "no" then let's please talk about these things.

Finally, are you willing to be an ambassador for Christ?  Paul speaks of His ministry and our ministry of reconciliation.   This is a ministry given to you and me, and we are responsible for fulfilling this ministry as ambassadors for Christ.  "All things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliationNow then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God." (2 Corinthians 5:18-20)

May we have the same willingness to minister for God as Isaiah.  Enjoy your day serving the LORD of hosts.
