What Have You Seen or Heard About Your Future?

Isaiah  64:4, "For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him."

Man does a lot of talking, but not much talking about God.  This has been true since the beginning of the world according to the words of Isaiah.  It didn't take long for man to stray from God and to become disinterested in the things of God.  The first murder took place in the first family mentioned in the Bible when Cain slew his brother Abel.  By the time you get to Genesis 6, the world is so wicked that God determined to destroy everything with breath in its nostrils.  Genesis 6:5, "And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually."  People like this aren't focused upon God or talking to others about Him.

We lack sight and perception because we lack interest in God.  Paul quoted the depths of God's love and provision for us as he wrote to the church at Corinth when he said, "Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory; 8which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." (1 Corinthians 2:6-10)

There is no other God but Jehovah.  And He alone has prepared great things for those who trust Him, and those things are incomprehensible apart from knowing and understanding the God of the Bible.  Our future is as bright as the promises of God.  We have heard and seen things that we would have never known if it weren't for someone introducing us to Jesus.

Let's spend this week talking to others about the Great God we serve.  Maybe they will hear and see something they have never known.

MEDITATIONS

1. When was the first time you can remember straying away from God? What were the circumstances?

2. How would you describe the spiritual condition of our world today? What could change this reality?

3. If you were to rate the level of your interest in God on a scale of 1-10 what would it be? Justify your answer and consider what you could do to enhance this score.

4. Will you make a commitment to begin talking to others about the Lord?
