Blood Makes The Difference

Exodus 12:12-13, "For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. 13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt."

In the course of Pharaoh continuing to disobey the desire of Moses for the children of Israel to leave the land of Egypt, God promoted a final judgment that would cause Pharaoh to momentarily repent of his decision and the children of Israel would leave the land of bondage.  The first Passover is established, the blood of a male lamb, without spot or blemish, would be applied to the side post and upper door post of every Hebrew home and this would make the difference between judgment or mercy.  The death angel visited every home where no blood had been applied, and in those homes God's judgment was experienced by the death of the firstborn, and of beast.

As you know, Jesus is the ultimate and final Passover lamb.  John the Baptist, identified Christ as "...the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." (John 1:29). Paul the Apostle spoke, "...wherein he (God) hath made us accepted in the beloved (Jesus).  7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace." (Ephesians 1:6-7)  Revelation 1:5 declares, "...Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood."  You see the blood makes the difference!  Hebrews 9:22 warns, "...without shedding of blood is no remission."

It is impossible for an animal to pay for our eternal redemption, but Jesus could and did on the Cross.  He is the sinless, spotless, lamb of God.  "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?" (Hebrews 9:14).

I hope you know Jesus as your Saviour, for it is the blood that makes the difference!  Share Christ daily with someone who needs to receive Him as their Saviour.
