God's Unconditional Love
Deuteronomy 7:7-8, "The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people, for ye were the fewest of all people. But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt."
Aren't you thankful for God's love? There is nothing we can do to earn the love of God. As a matter of fact the only thing we have earned or deserve is God's wrath because of our sin. In today's passage we see God's unconditional love for the children of Israel. As you can see in verse 7, "the LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number..." No, it was simply because God is a covenant keeping God, He had sworn to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob that He would keep and guard their offspring.
May we rejoice today in God's Unconditional Love - "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God..." (1 John 3:1a) The manner of God's love is incomparable because it is unconditional, it is eternal, and it is holy. No person has learned to love God perfectly, we have not learned to love others perfectly, and we have not learned to love unconditionally at all times. Let's be thankful for God's unconditional love, and seek to incorporate it into the life that we live before others.
