Numbers 12:3 and 7, "(Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) My servant Moses...is faithful in all mine house."

There is no doubt about the greatness of Moses in relation to the annals of time and the Scriptures. Moses is one of the great characters of the Bible, he was a great leader, he was a man of great courage as he stood before Pharaoh, he was a man of great faith as he believed God in every circumstance in his life. It is important to recognize the things that make a person usable in God's work. We often look for popularity, power, riches, and intelligence, when God looks for other characteristics. Meekness and faithfulness are two of the characteristics God highly esteems in those whom He uses.

Meekness does not identify the weak but more precisely the strong who have been placed in a position of weakness where they persevere without giving up. Jesus describes Himself, as "meek and lowly" and undoubtedly demonstrated meekness more than any other in His death on the cross. He could have called angels to His rescue, but instead meekly died for the sins of mankind. How do you respond when facing trials in life?

Do you want to forcefully get your way and manipulate the results for your own benefit? Or, do you meekly surrender yourself to God's will and intentions persevering without giving up?

Faithfulness is a requirement placed upon God's servant. Paul reminds us that faithfulness is a requirement for every steward, "Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful." (1 Cor. 4:2) Faithfulness is identified as one of those enabling factors in Paul becoming a minister for Christ, "And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry." (1 Tim. 1:12) The word "enabled" in this verse speaks of being strengthened. It takes strength to be faithful.

Leaders are needed in God's church today, there is a great dearth of leaders. Will you cultivate, by the Spirit's power, the attributes of meekness and faithfulness in your life? May there be more men and women like Moses! People who are meek, people who are faithful, and people who are leaders!
