ARE THERE ANY WHO HAVE NOT SINNED?

READ ROMANS 3:1-20

Notice Romans 3:9-12.  "...for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin.  10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no not one."

vs. 9 Paul having developed his case against both Jew and Gentile makes it evident in chapters 1 and 2 that both are guilty before God.  "...They are all under sin."

vs. 10-12 To further support his case, Paul strengthens his conclusion of all under sin by quoting either Psalm 14:1-3 or Psalm 53:1-3.  Psalm 53:1-3 states, "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.  Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. 2God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. 3Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."  We learn in the New Testament only God is good, "Jesus said...Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is God."  Jesus had been called Good Master in Luke 18:18 by the young rich ruler, Jesus responded in Luke 18:19 by stating "...none is good, save one, that is God."

Any positive acts of goodness which find their origin in man pales to nothing when compared to our God who is infinitely holy.  (Read Isaiah 64:6) Paul's conclusion is that it makes absolutely no difference whether a person is Jew or Gentile, all are under sin.  Before God who is holy, there is none righteous, no not even one.

Have you acknowledged your sinfulness and your sin nature to God?  Have you placed faith and trust in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ to be made righteous?  If not, get on your knees today, and seek Biblical cleansing from your sin.

MEDITATIONS

1.  When did you first realize you were a sinner?  How did this impact you?

2.  Do you understand that only God can righteously deal with your sin?  What burden did this place upon Christ Jesus our Lord?

3.  If Jesus is good that makes Him God (Luke 18:19).  If you are sinful where does that leave you?

4.  Read 2 Corinthians 5:21 and comment on what this verse means in relation to our sin problem?
