It Seems So Obvious
Amos 5:4, "For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live."
The message is short and simple. God offers Israel an opportunity to be delivered and live, all they had to do was turn from their disobedience and seek Him. Literally, "seek Me; and live." To seek God is to live. To seek God is to find Him, and God is Life and the Source of life. Forgiveness, grace, and life enter the soul at once when we seek God, but the seeking is diligent seeking. The object of the search is God Himself. "Seek Me," that is, seek God for Himself, not for anything out of Him, not for His gifts, not for anything to be loved with Him. All are found in Him, but by seeking Him first, and then loving Him in all, and all in Him. By seeking God, we shall first escape the snares of the enemy while living here on earth. By seeking God, we shall know His grace in every circumstance and situation. And we know by seeking God and coming to faith in Christ we shall know and experience glory in Heaven.
Amos 5:4, "...Seek ye me, and ye shall live." Amos 5:6, "Seek the LORD, and ye shall live..." Amos 5:8, "Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, .... The LORD is his name." Amos 5:14, "Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you..."
Psalm 40:16, "Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified."
May we seek God, may we encourage others to seek God, and live. Also, may THE LORD BE MAGNIFIED!!!
