We Are Ambassadors of Christ

Luke 10:16, "He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me."

Luke chapter 10 begins with the Lord Jesus appointing another 70 men to preach, to teach, and to heal in His name.  Jesus then pronounced judgment upon those cities that heard Him, and yet rejected Him and His message (vs. 13-15).

Jesus spoke about the authority we possess as ambassadors.  "He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.” The word "ambassador" is defined in the "American Dictionary of the English Language" as follows: an ambassador is  "A minister of the highest rank employed by one prince or state, at a court of another, to manage the public concerns of his own prince or state, and representing the power and dignity of his sovereign."

It is interesting that when you are witnessing for God, for someone to hear you is for them to hear Jesus. And for someone to despise you is for them to despise Jesus.  Luke 10:16 is a proof text for the fact that we are Ambassadors of Christ. We are ministers of the highest rank, employed by Jesus Christ, the King of kings, to manage the public concerns that Jesus has for those living in today's world.  We are representatives of Christ' power and dignity. Paul states in 2 Corinthians 5:20, "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God."

Are you representing Jesus faithfully today?  Is your life a reflection of His desires?  Do others learn of the saving grace of God because of what you testify both by your life and your words?

Enjoy the rest of your life, serving God as His ambassador.
