Living God's Way
Romans 14:17-19, "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men. Let us, therefore, follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another."
The 14th chapter of Romans speaks of how we need to stay away from doubtful or questionable things in order to glorify God and edify others. The application of the teaching in verse 17 is provided in verse 19. We are to follow things which make for peace, and things that allow us to edify others.
We live in such a self-centered society where people are concerned almost solely about themselves. Christianity isn't about being self-focused, but rather it is about being focused primarily on God and others. People don't care about pursuing peace and harmony. They often are happy to sacrifice peace for their own desire. They aren't concerned about uplifting someone else but live concerned about their self. May we live seeking righteousness, peace, and joy (vs. 17) and follow things which make for peace, and edifying others.
