God Is Near

Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."

David begins Psalm 46 with a statement of fact.  This is reality for the believer.  This is what you and I can depend upon.  What is our reality?  God does not give us refuge; He is our refuge. He does not send strength; He is our strength. He does not give help; He is our help. The reason God is our refuge, strength, and help, as opposed to merely sending those things, is that He is present. God is present in time, in place, and in our problems. He is near!

Have you ever spoken to someone who wasn't "there"? I mean, they were physically near you, but their attention was somewhere far away. God is never that way; He is always present. He is The I AM. He is here!

God is present here, and God is present now. He is not confined to a location or by time. God is present everywhere, at the same time, in the fullness of His being.  God is not just present at our church. He is not confined to a far away location. God is always "here," no matter where "here" is! There is never need to fear when God is near.

"Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea. . . ." (Psalm 46:2)

Have a great day in your service for the Lord!
