A Right Spirit Requires A Clean Heart

Psalm 51:10, "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me."

Anyone who is a Christian understands that the condition of the human heart is one of defilement, corruption, and sin.  Jeremiah states in Jeremiah 17:9, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"  Then verse 10 gives God's response, "I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings."  You see God knows the condition of our heart, and it appears, that what we do tells much more the condition of the heart, than simply what we say.

David had sinned against God, against Bathsheba, against Uriah, and against himself.  He needed God's forgiveness and cleansing, for he knew that if his heart was defiled, his spirit could not be right.  Only the Lord can cleanse the heart, and that is done on the basis of His faithfulness to forgive and cleanse; because of the payment Jesus made through His death on the cross.

How is your heart today?  Is there any sin defiling your heart? Have you deceived someone, have you thought something corrupt and sinful, have you done a deed that is contrary to God's will?  Do you have bitterness and anger towards others?  Look within yourself today and determine if their is any wicked way in you.  Because otherwise, your spirit will not be right until your heart is cleansed by the Lord Jesus.

Make sure to walk in the joy and blessing of being right with God.
