The God of Our Salvation
Psalm 68:19, " Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah."
It is important for us to notice the italicized words in this verse if we are to have a proper understanding of the verse. The verse literally reads, as seen in our King James Bible, "Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us, even the God of our salvation. Selah." The word "loadeth" means to load, or place a load upon, or to bear a burden for another. I believe the verse teaches, as stated by Barnes' Notes on the Bible, "Blessed be the Lord God even if he lays a burden on us, and if he does this daily, for he is the God of our salvation." He enables us to bear it; he gives us strength; and finally he delivers us from it. Though, He constantly lays on us a burden, He consistently aids us to bear it. He does not leave us." God is always faithful to provide support and aid to the believer to save him from all his troubles. Jesus is our ultimate burden bearer as He went to Calvary and shed His precious blood for our sins. Clarke's Commentary on the Bible states: "Blessed be the Lord day by day, who bears our burdens for us."
1 Corinthians 10:13 speaks to this truth, "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO BEAR IT. The load will never be greater than the grace God provides to sustain you.
I want to praise God today for the many times He has delivered me out of trouble, and for the daily provision of His grace that enables me to live for Him. He truly is the God of our salvation!
