The Importance of Prayer in the Life of Jesus
Mark 1:35, "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed."
I thank God for every example that Christ gave to us in His walk of submission with the Father. Much is said in Scripture which reflects the importance of prayer in the life of Jesus. He taught His disciples a pattern for prayer in the Lord's model prayer, the most lengthy prayer of Jesus is recorded for us in John 17, in today's text Christ rises early for prayer, and in Matthew 14:23 the Bible says, "And when he (Jesus) had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone." Jesus taught in Luke 18:1, "...that men ought always to pray, and not to faint."
May the example of Christ be one we follow in relation to prayer. Nothing of spiritual value has been accomplished without first being bathed in prayer. James encourages every believer by stating, "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16(b)
Make time for daily private prayer in your life. You will be glad for doing so.
