Observing All That God Commands You

Matthew 28:19-20, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Today's verse is a commandment familiar to most every Christian, it is called the Great Commission.  Yet statistics provide the fact that approximately 95% of Christians never win one person to Christ.  With that said it must be assumed that most are not active in witnessing for Jesus.  In one's lifetime, you would think he or she could win at least one person to Christ.  The problem is we are not obedient to God's commandments.   God spoke about observing his commandments in the Old Testament as well, Duet. 12:32, sounds like Matthew 28:20, “What things soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it."

Many people sit in churches week after week listening to messages, they evaluate the message and then fail to put it into practice. According to the Word of God, this is self-deception. James speaks about our need to be doers of the Word and not hearers only. "...be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."   I want to encourage you to serve the Lord and make sure to obey His commandments!!! Worship always proceeds service, but genuine worship will lead you to serve the Lord with gladness. Make a difference in your church by serving the Lord.

MEDITATIONS

1. Have you ever had the privilege of winning anyone to Christ by sharing the Gospel with them?

2. Why do you think so many people never win anyone to Jesus?

3. Are you faithfully participating in the visitation program of your church? If not, why?

4. How do people justify ignoring and disobeying the Great Commission?
