DEMONSTRATING SALVATION

READ Philippians 2:12-18

This morning passage begins with an injunction to “…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” What Paul is saying to the Philippian Church is to evidence salvation by living in the fear of God.  We cannot earn salvation, but we can certainly demonstrate salvation.

Verse thirteen gives a great illustration of God’s grace at work in the individual believer.  “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.”  It is only by the grace of God that we develop both the will to please Him and to do what it takes to please Him.  Glory to His Name!  As a committed Christian I desire to please the Lord in all that I do.  That, my friend, is grace!  It is through the avenue of grace that I will demonstrate to the world that I am genuinely saved by God’s grace.

May our lives testify that which is stated in verses 15 & 16, “That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”

Have a great day demonstrating God’s salvation in your life!

Your Friend and HIS,

Pastor Abbott

MEDITATIONS

1.  Describe how you are currently growing in Christ.

2.  Read Philippians 2:13, and explain how this verse relates to the grace of God.

3.  What sorts of things can put a blemish on our lives as believers?

4.  To whom do you need to “hold out the word of life” to today?  Are you ready to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
