WALKING WISELY AND SPEAKING WITH GRACE
Read Colossians 4:5-6
“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. 6Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.”
Verse five states that believers are to walk in wisdom toward those who are without Christ, and we are to redeem the time.
How does one walk in wisdom? He does so by living daily in light of God’s Word. We must guard our steps, we must walk in a Christlike fashion, we choose to do that which is right rather than that which is wrong.
How do we redeem the time? We do so by making up for the lost time. Time used foolishly should now be used wisely. Buyback whatever you can by becoming a good steward of your time, which is limited.
Verse six teaches us about communication. Our speech is to be always with grace, that is with kindness, courtesy, and graciousness. Our speech is to be seasoned with salt, that is, it is to be enjoyable and tasteful. WE are to be very careful in how we will answer people, both saved and lost.
If we walk wisely and speak with grace, those who are lost will take notice, and it could have a powerful influence in bringing them to salvation in Christ. We should never do anything in word or in act that will turn someone away from pursuing Jesus Christ.
