THE CHRISTIAN'S FELLOWSHIP IN PRAYER
Read Colossians 4:2-4
“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; 3Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds: 4That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.”
Four important instructions are given concerning prayer. Notice:
The believer is to remain steadfast in prayer. Are you a person who perseveres and remains consistently engaged in prayer? The Bible is clear we are to continue in prayer.
The believer also is to watch in prayer. Prayer should heighten our awareness of the spiritual dangers lurking near us. Being vigilant in prayer is God’s command.
The believer is to pray with thanksgiving. I wonder how many times we pray with our heart filled with complaints rather than with thanksgiving. No believer can deny God’s will in relation to gratitude and prayer.
The believer should pray for others who labor in ministry. We should be praying for our pastor, for missionaries, Sunday school teachers, evangelists, and our own ministry involvement as well.
Prayer is undeniably a vital part of your life as a believer. God has chosen to change and do certain things through those who pray. May we make a commitment to become a praying people!
