LEARNING FROM THE EXAMPLE OF EPAPHRODITUS
READ Philippians 2:25-30
Yesterday, we took a moment to learn from the example of Timothy. Today we will see what we can learn from the example of a man named Epaphroditus.
Not much is known about Epaphroditus. However, it is obvious that the Philippian church had sent him to Rome with financial support for Paul (See 4:18). Some have thought he was in fact the pastor of the Philippian church.
Nevertheless, here are some exemplary things about the life of Epaphroditus.
Epaphroditus was a fellow soldier in God’s work – vs. 25. Epaphroditus was a Christian brother and an associate with Paul in both labor and conflicts for Christ.
Epaphroditus continued to serve Christ even though he had fallen seriously ill – vs.26.
Epaphroditus was the recipient of God’s grace & miraculous healing – vs. 27. His healing was a special mercy from God to both him and the Apostle Paul.
Epaphroditus was to be esteemed for his sacrificial service for Jesus Christ – vs. 28-30.
Hebrews 6:10 reminds us, “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward His name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”
We can certainly learn to emulate the examples established by both Timothy and Epaphroditus.
